Gary Mueller, In Memoriam

Gary became interested in astronomy over 35 years ago as a result of his ever-present curiosity about how things work—including the universe. He frequently attended “star parties” in Texas and Oklahoma and took his large private telescope to these events in order to teach attendees about astronomy—and enjoy the night sky himself. Gary was a plant engineer designing machine parts and trouble-shooting all aspects of the engineering process. He worked at Harbison-Fischer for 45 years. He was a charter member of Lone Star Observatory and engineered, machined, and erected the observatory’s telescope. Gary died on March 25, 2020 of an aggressive form of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).

No words can convey how much Gary has meant to this organization, to Lone Star Observatory, and to the individual members of both organizations. Thank you, dear friend.
